SYRIAN HOUSE RESTAURANT KUALA LUMPUR
THE BEST MIDDLE EASTERN CUISINE
IN KAMPUNG BARU, KL
Just so you know, yours truly is a real foodie when it comes to food of any cuisine and country as long as it is certified Halal. Thus, it wouldn’t be fair NOT to review a cuisine that is always close to my heart.
Middle Eastern Cuisine or Arabic foods to be exact. Yes, I have the heritage of the Middle East Culture but we don’t really practice our culture much here as it's already a “ROJAK” heritage within our family.
But when it comes to the food, we would never forget and ignore our spices and ingredients that differentiate itself from other cuisines from the rest of the world.
🠞 Lamb and Chicken - Mandi, Kabsa, Biryani and Maqluba Rice
🠞 Lamb Soup
🠞 Sahawi Sauce
🠞 1 Ice Lemon Tea Jug
🠞 1 Arabic Tea Pot
🠞 Mix Fruits
Mainly made with healthy and aromatic blend of ingredients like chickpeas, lentils, fresh salads, grilled lamb and chicken with a mix of spices and herbs that surely offer rich and defined flavours with every mouthful.
Hence here I am, visiting and dining-in at one of the incredible and sensational Middle Eastern Restaurant in Kampung Baru, Kuala Lumpur. It’s been awhile since I came here years ago, to enjoy a meal, chilling with friends and such.
Now, Syrian House Restaurant, with its new management serving you with a new menu to mesmerize and entice your taste bud and elevate your appetite to further food ecstasy !
Loving the beautiful yet warm and inviting feeling Syrian House Restaurant brings,
an alfresco dining with a hint of Syrian’s Damascus feel and the water fountain in the middle to enlighten up the place.
Not missing out the a well that heave froth of bubbles for visitors to play around while appreciating the breathtaking interior and waiting for your meals to be served. Surely a lot of instagramable picture to be taken here !!
There’s a corner that serves Middle Easterns famous past time activity - Shisha.
Beautiful glass colored shisha bottles with wide varieties of flavours awaiting for its patrons to enjoy, sit back and relax.
As I came here with my family, we chose to sit inside the air-conditioning room which you can book for special occasions like meetings, birthday parties and such.
We ordered the Family Package Mix Grill Meal sets that consist of :-
🠞 Lamb and Chicken - Mandi, Kabsa, Biryani and Maqluba Rice
🠞 Lamb Soup
🠞 Sahawi Sauce
🠞 1 Ice Lemon Tea Jug
🠞 1 Arabic Tea Pot
🠞 Mix Fruits
We did order an additional menu such as :-
➤ Special Mix Grill - Shish Tawook served with French Fries, Lamb Kebab, Chicken Kebab and Flatbread (pita bread)
➤ Mix Appetizers - My favourite Hummus, Fattoush, Mutabal, Baba Ganoush and Tabbouleh.
➤ Mix Appetizers - My favourite Hummus, Fattoush, Mutabal, Baba Ganoush and Tabbouleh.
My family really enjoyed and savoured the spectacularly flavourful Chicken Mandi and the rice are cooked and seasoned to perfection!
I personally love the mix grill kebabs and appetizers. The meats on the mix grill are so tender and succulent. Rich and savoury with well seasoned herbs and the heavenly Toum ( garlic sauce ) perfectly combines all exquisite taste in one mouthful wrap flatbread.
As for the appetizers, the all-time-favourite of mine would be Hummus and Baba Ganoush.
What is the difference between Hummus and Baba Ganoush ?
Hummus is a Middle Eastern dip, spread, or savory dish made from cooked, mashed chickpeas blended with tahini, lemon juice, and garlic. The standard garnish in the Middle East includes olive oil, a few whole chickpeas, parsley, and paprika.
While Baba Ganoush is Lebanese origin consisting of mashed cooked eggplant, olive oil, lemon juice, various seasonings, and sometimes tahini. It may be served with onions, tomatoes, or other vegetables.
Both look almost the same but taste totally different!! You have to try it and savour every bit of it !! Trust me, you gonna love it !! 💓💓
Even Though our package already has its drinks, I’ve ordered the famous ‘Turkish Coffee’ and ‘Moroccan Tea Pot’, A must try to experience the true Middle Eastern culture beverages.

Tea in the Arab world is usually a strong dark mix, similar to the so-called "breakfast tea" served in other parts of the world. Often brewed with sugar and served in long glasses, it can also be made with mint or cardamom, or with a dash of milk.
But in Syrian House Restaurant, the sugar is not added in the teapot. They give an additional bowl of sugar aside, for you to take your own sugar intake.
Turkish Coffee requires a stronger taste bud than usual coffee drinker as this coffee is more potent than espresso and uses Cardamom as one of its ingredients to produce a more rich and heaty feel while sipping this unique coffee. Quite an eye-opener drink, to be frank!
Turkish coffee is a method of coffee preparation that originated in Middle Eastern and European countries, including Turkey, Iran and Greece. It's made by combining finely ground coffee beans with water (and often sugar) and bringing the liquid to a frothy foaming stage, just below boiling.
Moroccan Tea ingredients are fresh mint, sugar, water and gunpowder tea. Gunpowder tea is a type of green Chinese tea in which each leaf has been rolled into a small round pellet.
This drink too will require a strong sense of taste of the drinker as it leaves a bitter taste at the end of your tongue but still salvageable with a bit of sugar. Not recommended to drink without sugar though.
I truly had a whale of a time spending quality family time ,eating out at Syrian House Restaurant with my family. Relishing and appreciating the divine and delightful food and beverages, by serving us the most intricate recipes straight from the Middle Eastern culture. Truly an experience !
The price is definitely affordable with the great service shown by the staff, amazing nourishments and of course the beautiful design to sum it all up for a wonderful experience here in the heart of KL.
I would surely come again with my family and friends. And Yes, the food quality and taste has definitely improved better than before 😉😋
Absolutely one of the BEST Middle Eastern restaurant I have visited and totally recommended for you all to come and experience the wonderful eatery !!
